Obituary for Lorena "Cricket" Woodson

Lorena A. “Cricket” Gregory Woodson, 78, of Anmoore, passed away Friday afternoon, February 3, 2017. She was born in Gilmer County on May 3, 1938, and was raised by the late Ira and Ada Carder of Anmoore.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William Thomas Woodson, on February 26, 2010.

She is survived by two daughters, Rondallyn A. Lipscomb; and Lisa R. Robinson, both of Anmoore; three grandchildren, David W. Lipscomb, Anmoore; Ericka R. Register and her husband Chad of North View; and Thomas S. Robinson, Anmoore; three great-grandchildren, Alexis C. Lipscomb, Chloe N. Register, and Michael A. Register; her love-adopted daughter, Tammy DeMick, Clarksburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Cricket, along with her husband, were the former owners and operators of Woodson Pallet Company on Brushy Fork Road for over 30 years, where she served as Secretary. She was the coach and instructor of the Junior Bowlers League at Compton Lanes for many years, and was the state delegate to the Women’s National Bowling Tournament, and she enjoyed NASCAR. She loved her pets, but especially was fond of her Shih-Tzu “Andy.”

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2017. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
