Obituary for John W. Hill

John W. Hill, 76, of Rosemont, passed away Friday morning, March 17, 2017, at his residence. He was born August 27, 1940, in Bridgeport, a son of the late George H. and Edith (Fletcher) Hill.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Agnes (McCloy) Hill, whom he married February 11, 1961.
Also surviving are two sons, John Hill, Jr. and his wife Cindy, Meadland Community, and Mark Allen Hill and his wife Debbie, Brownton; 5 grandchildren, Krista, Amy, Ashley, Courtney and Mark; a sister, Betty Kummer, Bridgeport; a brother, George Hill, Bridgeport; a special great-niece, Nevaeh Haynes; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Agatha Schoonover, Philippi.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Thomas.
John was a truck driver and moved heavy equipment working for several construction companies, including Salerno Brothers, Marks Construction, and Keeley Brothers, and he had also driven for Matthew Brothers. Besides driving truck, he loved working in his yard with his flowers and gardening. He also enjoyed watching wrestling on TV and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Monday from 2 – 8 p.m., where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, with Reverend Lois Sandy presiding. Interment will follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Flemington.
