Obituary for William R. "Bill" Creighton

William R. Creighton, 77, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017. He was born on February 15, 1940, in Youngstown, OH, the middle son of the late Robert C. and Margaret Alice Creighton.

He is survived by his wife, Sally of Florida and Bridgeport; one son Sean and his wife Laura and two grandchildren; his step-daughter, Jessica Leech and her husband Garth; sister Ruth and brother Richard; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother Robert, and sisters Marjorie and Nancy.

Bill was the owner of several Giant Eagle grocery stores around the area. He was a member of the Masons, an avid golfer, one of the founding members of Pete Dye Golf Course in Bridgeport and a long standing member of Bridgeport Country Club. Bill was also a die-hard Mountaineer and Browns fan.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to the Harrison County Humane Society, PO Box 4397 Clarksburg, WV 26302 or a charity of your choice.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 5 - 7 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017, where a celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 7 p.m. with Reverend Robin Ray presiding.
