Betty J. Atha, 89, of Bridgeport, passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2017 in Fairmont. She was born June 12, 1928 in Boothsville, a daughter of the late Virgil Calvin Stackhouse and Dorothy Luella Freeman Stackhouse.
She is survived by three children Ricky Wayne Summer of Bridgeport, Randy Carl Summer of Bridgeport, and Larry Richard Summer of Ocala, FL.; a brother Edward Gary Stackhouse of Bridgeport and a sister, Sandra Taylor of Bridgeport; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Louella Summers and her son Virgil Calvin Summers; two brothers, George Stackhouse and Kenneth Stackhouse and a sister Nancy Bowers.
Betty enjoyed going to yard sales and gardening fruits and vegetables. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Monday, November 6, 2017 from 6-8 pm and on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 10-1 pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 1:00 pm with Pastor Erik Hustead presiding. Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Anmoore.
