Obituary for Mary Jo Freeman (Snodgrass)

Mary Jo Freeman, age 90 years, a former resident of Clarksburg, WV and has spent the last several years in Elkins, WV with her son Chuck Freeman and wife Linda; passed away November 28, 2017 at Colonial Place under the care of Mountain Hospice. Mary Jo Freeman was born January 22, 1927 in Braxton County, WV, a daughter of the late Jesse and Cora Snodgrass.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles W. Freeman, whom she married on April 26, 1947.
Surviving are two sons, Charles “Chuck” (Linda) Freeman, Elkins, and Jeff Freeman, Morgantown; four grandchildren, Chad Freeman, Buckhannon, Alexis Freeman Bridges, Raeford, NC., Jeremy Freeman, Clarksburg, and Adam Freeman, Morgantown; three great grandchildren, Ryan, Sophia and Kailey.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Hattie Warne, Lemmi Walters, and Alma Roberts, and brothers Ray Snodgrass, Paul Snodgrass and Harlan Snodgrass.
Prior to retirement, Mary Jo worked at the United Hospital Center and for Dr. Harry Linger. After retirement, she served on the Diabetic Board at UHC. Mary Jo and her husband prided themselves in jurying their folk art throughout the state of WV, camping, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Calvary Methodist Church in Adamston and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 374, Queen Esther Chapter No.11.

Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Friday, December 1, 2017 from 4-7 pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Brian Plum presiding. Entombment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Quiet Dell.
