Obituary for Charles Earl Reed

Charles Earl Reed, 77, of Bridgeport, passed away on December 14, 2017, at Nellas of Crystal Springs Nursing Home in Elkins with family by his side. He was born August 12, 1940, in Rosemont and was the son of the late Calvin and Mabel Ann Bailey Reed.

He is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Ann Cutright and husband Stan of Maple Lake, Bridgeport; Lisa Kay Reed of Morgantown, and Katrina Jo Davis of Brandywine, WV.

Also surviving are grandchildren Jacob Sheme of Rosemont; Cullin Cutright, Bridgeport; Barrett Davis of Brandywine; and one great-granddaughter, Mila Raveyn Sheme of Rosemont.

He is also survived by a special cousin, Martha Ann Rus of Rosemont, and a lifelong very close dear friend, Sonny and Sandy Fleming of Bridgeport.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Anna Marie Grubb.

He was preceded in death by his furry friends who were his best friends and pride and joy, two white German Shepherds, Dutchess and Leo.

“Meatball”, as he was referred to from many of his friends, graduated from Flemington High School with the Class of 1958. He was a member of Late Lodge AF & AM # 63 in Bridgeport.

In his younger years and right after high school he was employed by Pure Food in Elkins and Bridgeport, C & H Market and Fanchers Meat Market as a meat cutter, one of his passions.

He took that trade and opend up his own business of Meatballs Meat Shop for several years in Rosemont.

He later retired in 1995 from Peabody Coal Mine with 25 years of service.
