Obituary for Karen Rae Sanders (Trovato)

Karen Rae Trovato Sanders, 70, of Bridgeport, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018 in Morgantown. She was born on October 11, 1947 in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late James Trovato and Minnie Faulkner Trovato.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 52 years, David D. Sanders whom she married on March 5, 1966.
In addition to her husband she is also survived by three daughters, Tracy Sanders Hooper and her husband Richard of Charlottesville, VA, Jodi Sanders Mullenax and her husband Matthew of Bridgeport, and Jami Sanders Chalfant also of Bridgeport; five grandchildren, David Chalfant, Morgan Hooper, Ryan Hooper, Hope Chalfant and Jordan Mullenax; a sister Vicki Trovato Gizzi and her husband Manuel of Anmoore; a nephew Jamie Gizzi and his wife Crystal of Lost Creek; and an aunt, Naomi Reed of Clarksburg.
Karen was a 1965 graduate of Bridgeport High School and attended the Clarksburg Beauty Academy. She was owner and operator of Main Street Tavern which opened in 1998 and the Main Street Station which opened in 2002. Prior to being a business owner, she was a hairdresser for many years.
Karen loved watching football and rooting for her favorite teams the Steelers and the Mountaineers. She was an avid computer gamer and enjoyed watching her many favorite TV shows. When she was able, she enjoyed traveling across country with her husband in their motor home. She also enjoyed the weekends camping at Big Bear Lake and her annual family trips to Myrtle Beach.

Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue Bridgeport on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jamie Gizzi presiding. Interment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery.
