Obituary for Howard William "Bill" Riffle

Howard (Bill) William Riffle, 90, of Glen Falls, passed away Friday, March 30, 2018, to join his loved ones in Heaven and to meet Jesus face to face.
Dad was the oldest surviving resident of Glen Falls. He lived his entire life in the community that he loved.
He was so excited to celebrate his 90th birthday. He was born in Clarksburg on March 20, 1928, the son of the late Howard Bennett Riffle and Alice Fincham Riffle. His two brothers Dale and George Riffle preceded him in death.
Dad married his young bride, the late Nellie Sinnett Riffle on August 16, 1947. They were blessed with 62 years of marriage. Six children made their life complete: Howard Riffle (Shirley) of Glen Falls; Alice Shaw (Tom) of Quiet Dell; Kathy Dodd (Rocky) of Glen Falls; Mark Riffle (deceased); Randy Riffle (Donna) of Glen Falls; and Lori Evanoski (Jon) of Jane Lew. Dad was lovingly cared for during his illness by all of his children.
He dearly loved his grandchildren and their children. They were always running in and out of his house. He was proud of all their achievements. They are Howard F. Riffle (Cari); Carrie Shaver (Scott); Billy Riffle (Jennifer); Christopher Shaw (Jennifer); Stacie Dulin (Bob); Jason Dodd (Rachel); Amber Fazzini (David); Josh Riffle; Justin Riffle (deceased); and Seth Evanoski.
Dad was proud of his great-grandchildren. He enjoyed reading about their achievements in sports, hearing them sing, and especially knowing their hearts belonged to God. He had 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Sweet Pea, his pound puppy, was very special to him.
He worked for Lang Brothers Construction as a heavy equipment operator. He was an excellent mechanic. We all have fond memories of him working on our vehicles or our lawn equipment. The grandchildren brought their bikes to him for maintenance or just to get his advice.
He loved the Lord and was Baptist by faith. He read his Bible and liked to watch evangelists on TV. His home was always open to everyone for a good cup of coffee or a Sunday dinner.
Dad’s wish was to be cremated and laid to rest beside Mommie in the Glen Falls Cemetery.
“Return oh my soul to your rest, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you. For you have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling. I walk before the Lord in the land of the living.” Psalm 116: 7-9
