Obituary for James Robert Grant

James Robert Grant, 88, of Nutter Fort, passed away on Tuesday morning, April 24, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born on August 24, 1929 in Clarksburg, a son of the late Sherman Lewis Grant and Virginia Eva McNemar Grant.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Luanna Myrtle Williams Grant, whom he married on November 20, 1954.
He is also survived by six children, Robert Grant and his wife Nora of Clarksburg, Betty Booth and her husband Dale of Eureka, MT, Patricia Nuzum and her husband Robert of Nutter Fort, Sherman Grant and his wife Sarah of Salem, Jo Ann Scott and her husband Jackson of Fairmont, and Steven Grant and his wife Trish of Mount Clare; eleven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; one sister, Mary Ann Grant Dawson of Huntington.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother Todd William Grant and one sister Roberta Mae Grant Marple.
Mr. Grant was a veteran of the United States Army and was the Head Custodian at Nutter Fort Grade School for 17 years until his retirement in 1999. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and taking long drives with his wife.

Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 3-7 pm. Cremation services will follow the visitation and interment will be held in the West Virginia National Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 30, 2018, with Military Funeral Honors accorded by Harrison County Honor Guard and WV Army National Guard Honor Guard.
