Obituary for Roxanne Marie McDaniel (Folio)

Roxanne McDaniel, 75, of Bridgeport, left this life on Sunday, August 5, 2018, to join her heavenly Father. She passed away at her residence surrounded by her children. Roxanne was born on July 24, 1943, to the late Frank Folio and Mary Fernandez Folio.

On August 5, 1966, she married Paul Tarring “Terry” McDaniel, who preceded her in death on March 5, 2000.

She is survived by four children, Stephen McDaniel (Alexis), Traci Henderson (Tom), Kellie Steele and Sherri Louk (Tom) all of Bridgeport, 9 grandchildren, Nathan Hefner, Chatanooga, TN, Paul and Allesandra McDaniel, St. Augustine, Fl, Megan Henderson, Taylor and Rachel Steele, Hayden and Haley Stevens and Harper McDaniel all of Bridgeport and 1 step granddaughter Taylor Louk, NH; two great-grandchildren Dylan Spangler, Bridgeport and Everly Hefner, Chatanooga, TN; a brother, Frank Fernandez, Mt. Clare; and several nieces and nephews.

Roxanne was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Thomas Henderson and her sisters, Mary Joretta Alvaro and Mary Evelyn Cantor.

Roxanne was a graduate of Notre Dame High School Class of 1961. After high school she attended Beauty School in Morgantown, WV and later graduated from the Union Protestant Hospital LPN Program. Most of her career was as a Nursing Home Administrator. She owned and operated both the Lida Clark Nursing Home in Clarksburg and the Meadowview Manor Health Care Center in Bridgeport. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.

Roxanne devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed dancing, listening to music and gardening. She loved the beach, shopping, writing, playing the slot machines, and visiting St. Augustine, Fl. Her family will forever miss her silliness and ability to make us all laugh hysterically.

Roxanne was a supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital as well as the Wounded Warriors Organization and therefore, in lieu of flowers donations made be made to one of those charities in her memory: St. Jude’s Children Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142; or Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 4 – 8 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2018, with a Vigil Service being held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at All Saints Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018, with Father Hilarion V. Cann as Celebrant, and inurnment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery.
