Obituary

Freda Pearl Shuman Reed, 81, of Bridgeport passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018 in Bridgeport at United Hospital Center. She was born on March 23, 1937 in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late Earl Wesley Shuman and Georgia Virginia Payne Shuman.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Charles (Charlie) Reed who passed away on April 26, 2013.
She is survived by one son Richard (Rick) Reed of Bridgeport and one daughter Tammy Reed Gibson also of Bridgeport; five grandchildren, Kurt Gibson, Cordel Gibson, Jessica Reed, Laura Reed and Nathan Reed; six great grandchildren, Juliana Crites, Jonas Reed-Lee, Jaxon Gibson, Madelynn Gibson, William Cooper and Isabella β€œBella” Davis; one sister Betty Carbone-Cunningham; and one brother, Daniel Shuman.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Devin Tyler Gibson; and a brother Robert Shuman.
She was employed at Hazel Atlas and Kroger for many years until her retirement in 2009. She enjoyed playing bingo and working crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed traveling to the beach.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 2-8 pm. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesdayh December 19, 2018 with Pastor Mark Greaver presiding. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Quiet Dell.

Rick, and Tammy, Thoughts and prayers are with all of your families during this most difficult period. Your mom and dad and I grew up in the Lawman Ave. Penn Ave, Cherry Street part of town.
