Obituary for Jeffrey Neil Winter

Reverend Jeffrey Neil Winter, 66, of Bridgeport, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018 at his home. He was born on December 9, 1952 in Berkley WV, a son of the late Charles O. Winter and Betty Miller Winter.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Leona Sue Ferguson Winter, whom he married on August 5, 1995.
He is also survived by his stepchildren, Lisa Rice of Clarksburg and David Rice and his wife April of Clarksburg; grandchildren, Abigail Rice and Annalise Shaw; sister Sandy Kessel; brother Charles Winter; nephew Brian Kessel all of Cottageville, WV; Aunts and Uncles, JoAnn and Dan Beiling of Ripley and Bernice and Harold Miller of Bradenton, FL; several cousins and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Reverend Winter was a graduate Glenville State University with a BA in History in 1975, and M. Div from Asbury in 1980. His charges were LeRoy Circuit 1977; Stealey Street-Lazier Chapel 1980; New Fayette Circuit 1984; Sabra-Highland 1987; Elizabeth 1991; Liberty 1992; Parkview, Parkersburg 1999, Blackwater 2001; Blueville-Haymond-St John’s 2004; First (Shinnston) 2010; New Hope (Princeton)- New Salem 2013; Retired in 2016.
Reverend Winter liked to read history, especially Civil War and enjoyed working puzzles, watching Star Trek movies and especially traveling every year in August to Amish Country in Ohio with his wife Sue.

Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 2-8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. Ken Ramsey and Rev. Dr. Dan Kimble presiding. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Quiet Dell.
