Obituary for Dorothy Jean Smith
Dorothy Jean Smith, 83, of Moon Township, Pa, formerly of Flemington, WV, passed away on Friday morning, December 28, 2018 at United Hospital Center. She was born on December 24, 1935, in Philippi, a daughter of the late Albert Toth and Rose Seech Toth.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Albert Smith, who passed away on January 17, 2001.
Dorothy is survived by five children, Dr. Albert Smith, JR. and his wife Arlene of Lapeer, MI, Dr. Annette M. Smith of Indiana, John M. Smith of Columbus, OH, Regina R. Rossi and her husband Tony of Moon Township, PA and Edward E. Smith of Flemington; grandchildren, Zachary Smith, MI, Seth Smith and his wife Kristin, MI, Phillip Smith of VA, Nathaniel Smith of Lapeer, MI Isabel S. Rossi of PA; and one great grandson, Noah Smith of MI; two brothers, Edward Toth and his wife Elaine and Albert L. Toth and his wife Janet.
After Dorothy graduated from high school, she furthered her education with a nursing degree in May of 1956. Dorothy was a devout catholic and she prayed the rosary faithfully and daily. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church, where she loved attending and praying. She loved to bake and cook and enjoyed being a mother and taking care of her family. She was also an avid Scrabble player and enjoyed watching Jeopardy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to All Saints Catholic Church, 315 E. Main Street, Bridgeport, WV 26330.
Family and friends will be received at All Saints Catholic Church, 317 E. Main Street, Bridgeport on Sunday, December 30, 2018 from 2-8 pm. A vigil service will be held on Sunday at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 10:00 am with Father Benedict Kapa as Celebrant. Interment will be in Flemington IOOF Cemetery.
