Prayford Freeman Eckenrode, 81, of Clarksburg, passed away Thursday morning, January 3, 2019, at his residence. He was born in Oakland, MD, on December 31, 1937, a son of the late Maurice and Abby Eckenrode.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Dilsworth; five children, Carl Eckenrode and his wife Barbara, PA; Linda Napper and her fiancé Paul Downey, Morgantown; Jamie Eckenrode and his wife Jayquane, Clarksburg; Cindy Eckenrode and her companion David, Fairmont; and Susan Grimes and her husband David, Clarksburg; and a son-in-law, Dennis Napper of Clarksburg; Twenty-one grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Bobby Eckenrode, Friendsville, MD, complete his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony and Leroy Eckenrode; two grandchildren, Ethan Eckenrode and David Grimes, Jr.; and a great-grandchild, Nikko Napper.
Mr. Eckenrode had worked for the City of Anmoore in the maintenance department and had cut grass at the golf course in Bridgeport. He enjoyed fishing, watching TV and spending time with his family.
Private services will be held for the Eckenrode family.
