Obituary for Marlene Cosner (Edinger)

Marlene Edinger Cosner, 82, of Arthur Avenue in Chestnut Hills, Clarksburg, passed away Friday morning, February 15, 2019, at her residence. She was born in Weston on September 11, 1936, a daughter of the late Herman “Chick” and Ella (Starkey) Edinger.

On January 18, 1957, she married Frank D. Cosner, who preceded her in death on December 1, 2004.

She is survived by her son, Frank D. Cosner, Jr. and his fianceé, Patty Boyles of West Union; her daughter, Carolyn Forinash and her husband Michael of Chester, VA; two grandchildren, Marlana Hausvater and her husband Michael, Bridgeport; and Machelle Lopez and her fiance’ Lamont Helm, Stonewood; five great-grandchildren, Dre’Mir Marcus, Holden and Amarra Hausvater, and Brailey and Brody Lopez; and a special niece, Sharon Underwood and her husband Brad.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George Herman Edinger; and two sisters, Leila Eileen Edinger and Iris Valjean Edinger.

Marlene was a devoted, hardworking, caring and loving caregiver to 3 generations. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and friends. She enjoyed vacationing with her family, writing poetry, reading, camping and watching sunsets. She was a true inspiration to all she met and enjoyed attending church. She was a member of Bridgeport United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Bridgeport United Methodist Church Permanent Fund, 251 Worthington Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330, or WVU Medicine Hospice, 327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 2- 4 & 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, with Reverend Dr. Ken Ramsey presiding. Interment will follow in the Broad Run Cemetery, Jane Lew.
