Obituary for Edward Lewis Corkrean

Edward L. Corkrean,84, of Lost Creek, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 24, 2019, in the United Hospital Center following an extended illness. He was born in Lewisburg on May 23, 1934, a son of the late Philip Matthew Corkrean and Rose (Sullivan) Corkrean.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy (Proudfoot) Corkrean, whom he married November 26, 1966.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jim Corkrean and his wife Paula, Quiet Dell; and David Corkrean of Lost Creek; his grandson, Eric James Corkrean and his companion Kayleen Myers, and Kayleen’s children, Becket and Romeo; two brothers, Philip Corkrean, Huntington and Patrick Corkrean, Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis Corkrean and Eugene Corkrean; and four sisters, Evelyn Corkrean, Mary E. Woelfel, Agnes Fallon, and Barbara Shebanek.
Ed was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Korean War. He was a truck driver with the Teamsters Union, and had worked at Hobet Mine in Logan County, where he was a member of UMWA. He was a former mayor of Lost Creek for 6 years, and enjoyed animals, especially his dogs.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Thursday from 4 – 8 p.m., where Catholic Funeral Rites will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019, with Father D. Kent Durig presiding. Interment will follow in Lost Creek Seventh Day Baptist Cemetery.
