Obituary for Eleanor June Howe

Eleanor June Jacobs Howe, 66 of Finchwood Drive, Mt. Clare, passed away Thursday evening, March 7, 2019, in the United Hospital Center. She was born in Clarksburg on April 8, 1952, a daughter of the late Jackson K. and Violet L. (Shanaman) Jacobs.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 47 years, James Howe, whom she married March 26, 1972.
Also surviving are two daughters, April Wallace and her husband Robert, Mt. Clare; and Julie Wise and her husband Michael of Philippi; 4 grandchildren, Dean Marteny, Braxton Marteny, Calvin Wise and Nathan Wallace; two brothers, Jackson “Nook” Jacobs and his wife Mary, Mt. Clare; Dave Jacobs and his wife Sheri, Jane Lew, and her sister Alice Snopps and her husband Donny, Bridgeport; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Bradley Jacobs.
Eleanor grew up in Nutter Fort and was a graduate of R-W High School. She was an active member of Vincent Memorial United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed volunteering and doing whatever was needed. She was also a proud member of the United Methodist Women. She loved crafting, especially for her church and the hospitals. She also enjoyed making and decorating cakes, and they were known as “Eleanor” cakes. She was an amazing grandmother, and her grandchildren were her world.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 4 – 6 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2019, where services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday evening with Reverend Samuel O. Cale, III, presiding.
