Obituary for Robert Maditz
Robert Maditz, 84, of Clarksburg, passed away Saturday morning, March 30, 2019, in the United Hospital Center. He was born in Mt. Clare on June 25, 1934, a son of the late John Stephen and Anna Belle (Steffich) Maditz.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Pauline Malcolm Maditz, on February 2, 1999.
He is survived by three children, Robin Rollins and her husband Edward, Brushy Fork Community, Bridgeport; Paul W. Maditz, Clarksburg; and Robert L. Maditz and his wife Susan, Shepherdstown, WV; grandchildren, John Rollins, Brushy Fork Community; Paul W. Maditz, Jr., West Union; Rebecca Lynn Johnson, Clarksburg; Emily Kaplun and her husband Michael, Alexandria, VA; Kaitlin Dehlin and her husband Jack, Jersey City, NJ; Meredith Maditz, Arlington, VA; several great-grandchildren, including Trinity McCullough, Ariana Johnson and Isabella Johnson; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Edward Maditz and his wife Dorothy; and Thomas Maditz, all of Clarksburg; and many nieces and nephews complete his family.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Joseph, William, George, Leon, Daniel, Walter, and Leonard Maditz.
Robert had worked at Sanitary Bakery for 24 years, then for the Department of Highways as a truck driver with 25 years of service. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Monday from 2 – 8 p.m., where services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, with Pastor Jeff Vaughan presiding. Entombment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
