Obituary for Steven Lynn Williams

Steven Lynn Williams, 60, of Shinnston, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019, at the River Oaks Nursing Home. He was born in Clarksburg, WV, on May 8, 1959, a son of the late Porter Brice and Ruth Evelyn (Campbell) Williams of Haywood Road, Shinnston.

Steven is survived by his younger brother, Rory Thomas Williams and his wife Toni Salerno Williams of Covington, Louisiana and their two daughters, Aubrie Rose at WVU and Aliza Grace at home. He also leaves behind several special cousins and friends.

Steven was especially proud of his two nieces Aubrie and Aliza who he loved to talk about and who always brought him joy whenever he saw them.

Steven was also an avid sports fan of all kinds including NASCAR and particularly a staunch Steelers, Pirates and WVU Mountaineer basketball and football fan.

Steven was a special brother and son. Having been born with a severe disability, he was always a happy go lucky fellow and always had a smile for everyone, never letting his disability get him down and never having a bad word for anyone.

He was fun loving to grow up with as a child and always had time to play with his little brother. He was a good housemate to our grandmother during her last years. He was a very special companion to our father the last 16 years of his life after our mother passed away much too soon. He was always there when his family needed him most. And most recently he had become a favored resident at River Oaks for the last 18months, having charmed the caregivers there with his friendly attitude and smile.

There is no doubt that God puts sweet souls like Steven on this earth for a greater purpose. He was a true blessing to our lives having taught us all the lessons of service to others and compassion for those less fortunate and to be very appreciative of being born with good health and the blessing of having children.

He set a great example and will be sorely missed by those who loved him.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be made to Harrison County United Way, P.O. Box 2452, Clarksburg, WV 26302-2452.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., where services will be held at 1 p.m. with Pastor Eric Miker presiding. Interment will follow in Lumberport Lions Cemetery.
