Larry was the last of the greatest old school salesmen! Darting to DC for “his claim to fame” in the early 70’s, Larry was a very successful auto dealer. A home in the metropolitan suburbs and a gentleman’s farm in VA, he and his Jeannie Queen, built a remarkable life, raising Arabian horses and living a good life. Larry aka “Muzzy OR JR” and Jean were culinary connoisseurs and owned 3 restaurants, along with many successful car lots. Larry’s ‘last stop’ was “Mr. Stop, Preowned Auto” still running in Anmoore, WV, to be resolved by his eldest daughter, Lettie. Larry’s life was driven by providing for his family and an ‘incredible provider’ doesn’t even express all he bestowed to those he loved. The giving tree comes to mind. Larry & Jean’s last home, on “Jack’s Hill” in Bridgeport WV is where he chose to retire, about 12 years ago. Having lost Jean in December of 2018, his purpose-driven life came to a halt. Larry was a devout believer in Jesus Christ and member of the Central Hills SDA Church in Bridgeport, WV. Larry was an astute Biblical apologist that could not be stumped, even on the smallest of detail! Larry’s will to provide and care for the love of his life is what kept him alive. Larry survived many years with diabetes, kidney stones, and several heart attacks because, we believe, he refused to leave his queen alone. Jeanie Queen lovingly referred to him as her “Cup Bearer “and like the dedicated soldier he was, he never left her very ill side, until her dying breath on December 9th, 2018. Once his Queen was gone, his plans to meet her at “The Eastern Gate” in heaven seemed like the only mission he had left. Although Larry was preparing their home for a Bible Study refuge, for one and all to come learn about The Lord, sadly, his health issues were now at the forefront of his mortal life. Larry took his last breath, peacefully, in his favorite chair with a gospel program on the tv, early 7/23/19. Although Larry was on his way to work that day, his job is now done. Larry’s eldest daughter Lettie was very close to him and like a Daddy’s Girl would, she begged him to come home with her, after a 5 day ‘care visit’, just the Friday before he died. Larry’s reply was “I’d rather die working than sit and wait to die...See ya later kid, I love you. Tell ‘em where you got it “and rest assured, Lettie will! No more working, Daddy, no more mourning for mom.... Your Queen awaits! All who truly loved you will have a hole as big as the sky, because that’s how big his personality was. A diverse and quite interesting man, that very few truly knew deeply, Larry will be sadly missed! Until we all can meet with you again, in the New Jerusalem, Salutè, Poppy! We love you so much!
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Friday, July 26, 2019 from 4-6 pm. A Memorial service will be held on Friday at 6:00 pm. Cremation services will be held at a later date.
