David Eugene Cox, 69, off Bridgeport, WV passed away at United Hospital Center on Tuesday, August 6, 2019. He was surrounded by his loving wife Elsie and very devoted daughter Jennifer along with caretaker Kelly Pope. David was born on December 5, 1949 in Harrison County, the son of Harley and Virgie O. Cox.
He is survived by his loving wife Elsie May Altman Cox and daughter Jennifer B. Cox of Bridgeport. He is also survived by siblings Shirley (Ronald) Blake, Delbert (Annamarie) Cox, Harley (Connie) Cox, Linda (Mike) Brown and Phyllis (Dave) Walk along with several nieces and nephews.
David was a 1967 graduate of Bristol High School, WV. David married his loving wife Elsie on July 31, 1970 and was married for over 49 years. After graduation he went on to work at a pottery factory out of state, then went on to work at Wilson Motors in the parts Department for a few years. He then became and served as a Police Officer for the City of Bridgeport for over 22 years. David loved to hunt, fish, camp, WVU and Steelers football and was a very avid NASCAR fan. David was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police.
