Obituary for Paul Eugene Shearer
Paul E. Shearer, 81, of Bridgeport passed away on Saturday evening, August 24, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on July 23, 1938 in Mt Clare, a son of the late Charles H. Shearer and Emma Louise Campbell Shearer.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eva Y. Cunningham Shearer, whom he married on December 22, 1956 and his special canine companion, Sam.
He is also survived by his children Tami Y. Hatcher and her husband David of Lexington, NC, Lisa A. Waugh and her husband Robert of Bridgeport, Randall E. Shearer and his wife Betsy of Bridgeport and Lori R. Spatafore and her husband William R. Spatafore, II also of Bridgeport; seven grandchildren, Jaclyn Waugh, Valerie Emory and her husband Brandon, Lindsey Mayle, Grace Shearer, Paul “Cameron” Shearer, Nicolas Spatafore and Bella Spatafore; great grandchildren, Nika Howard, Brynna Mayle, Adler Mayle, Layla Emory, Kash Howard, Trent Emory and Kane Howard; one brother, Edward Shearer of Ashland, KY and one sister, Velma Larry of Mount Clare; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to acknowledge their wonderful neighborhood for their support. A special thank you to neighbors, John and Coralene Peterman, Jerry and Linda Pomeroy and the special staff of Amedisys Hospice Care, especially Anna and Sheila.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Shearer and Frank Shearer.
Paul was retired from U. S. Tobacco Company. He was always interested in golf, cars and motorcycles from a young age. He also enjoyed playing sports with children and grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Thursday, August 29, 2019 from 2-8 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 11:00 am at Bridgeport United Methodist Church 251 Worthington Drive, Bridgeport, WV with Reverend Dr. Ken Ramsey presiding. Interment will be in Bridgeport Cemetery.
