Obituary for William Michael O'Brien

William “Billy” Michael O’Brien, 45, of Fairmont, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 8, 2020, in Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born in Burlington, VT, on June 5, 1974, a son of Miriam Anne (O’Brien) Shuman, and the stepson of Angelo Shuman, who survive in Clarksburg.

He is also survived by his children, twin sons, Zachary and Jakob O'Brien and his wife Jasmine; Dylan; Ashley Rose; Kainon; and Kay Ann; a grandchild, Kaspian; his brothers, Troy O’Brien and his wife Samantha, Barrackville; and Steven O’Brien, Clarksburg; and nieces and nephew, Matthew, Jada, and Jocelyn. Aunts and uncles, Karen and Michael Jones, Utica, NY; Jean & Jim Chandler, Amherst, VA; Patrick O’Brien, Norwood, NY; Annie & Barry Lawrence, Massena, NY; his step-grandfather, Barry A. Fetterly, Pottsdam, NY; his step-grandmother, Diana Brengle, Jane Lew; and numerous cousins and friends complete his family.

He was preceded in death by twin infant sons, Dallas and Caleb O’Brien; his sister, Crystal Lynn French O’Brien; his uncle, Barry A. Fetterly, Jr.; his maternal grandparents, William M. O’Brien and Kay O’Brien Fetterly; his step-grandfather, Francis Connor “Pappa Bear” Brengle; and a special cousin, Andrew “Dru” Murray.

Billy really enjoyed cooking and was a cook at Backwoods in Fairmont. He enjoyed dancing and was a very talented dancer. He was an avid reader. He was proud of the fact that he had been clean for two years, and was always trying to help his friends.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Sunday, February 16, 2020, from 4 – 6 p.m. where a service celebrating Billy’s life will be held at 6 p.m.
