Obituary for Gerald Alan "Jerry" Collett

Gerald Alan “Jerry” Collett, 67, of Bridgeport and formerly of Elkins passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at his home surrounded by his family after a brief and courageous battle of Glioblastoma. He was born on January 18, 1953 in Elkins a son of the late Paul Collett and Helen Lockridge Collett.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Connie Perkins Collett, whom he married on January 18, 1975.
He is also survived by his daughter, Kathleen “Kate” Titchenal and Cosimo “Mo” Antonucci; one grandson, Mason Titchenal; a sister, Pauline Newlon and her husband Dale of Elkins, his sister-in-law Sharon Collett of Elkins, and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles Perkins and Eileen McCullough; and several very special nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Ken Collett; a sister-in-law, Rosanna Teter.
Jerry was a 1970 graduate of Elkins High School and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and an active First-Degree member of Clarksburg Council #872 Knights of Columbus. He also served the Church on the cleaning crew. His passion was his family, fast cars, and model airplanes. He was a member of Flying Wing Nutz of St. Mary’s and Clarksburg Model Aviation Club. Jerry was retired from UPS serving 28 years as a Fleet Manager and at the City of Bridgeport for 7 years also as a Fleet Manager.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to WVU Medicine Hospice and all the nurses and caregivers that provided such great care to Jerry. They would also like to thank Father Casey Mahone and sisters, Maria and Berita along with a special friend Ioina Stemple and many other friends and neighbors who would call or come by and check on Jerry.

Private services will be held for the family by Burnside Funeral Home and a memorial service will be held for Jerry at a later date.
