On October 17, 1964, she married Forest Nicholson, who preceded her in death on January 26, 2018.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Lois Loy of Virginia; her brother Steve Hannah and his wife Dinah of Jane Lew; and her sister-in-law, Marilyn Hannah of State College, PA. Her nieces include Stephanie Stewart, Bridgeport; Carrie Cullen, Montawk, NY; Mary Hannah, NC; Jeanetta Hannah, NC; Sue Hannah, OH; and her nephews Ron Loy of Virginia and Jeff Hannah, OH.
She is also survived by Lanetta Myers, her caregiver, and her children, MiKayla and Kaleb. She had made her home with Lanetta and her family the last couple of years when she was no longer able to live in her home. They became her family and we cannot thank them enough for their care and love they shared to her.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim Hannah and Earnest Hannah; and her only Aunt, whom she loved dearly, Lora Virginia Richards.
Jo Ann graduated from Victory High School, Class of 1954. She was employed at Murphy’s for 10 years, and then worked as a bookkeeper for Carroll Lumber with 20 years of service from 1958 – 1978.
Jo Ann and Forest lived in Bridgeport where Forest owned and operated his own barber shop. In September 1985, they moved to Avon Park, Florida, and were there for 15 years before moving back to Bridgeport, WV, before building their home in Jane Lew.
Jo Ann and Forest attended Simpson Creek Baptist Church for many years.
Graveside services will be conducted at Bridgeport Cemetery on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Bill Coffindaffer presiding.
