Obituary for Christine Dawson (Lewis)
Christine Lewis Dawson peacefully departed her temporary home for her eternal one on Sunday, October 24, 2021.
Born in Lost Creek, WV on May 12, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Edgar W. and Erma Lewis.
She spent her early years in Johnstown, WV and after high school graduation moved to Northern Virginia. There she married her hometown sweetheart and worked at the Dept. of Agriculture in Washington D.C. The couple moved to Springfield, VA and there raised their daughter Cindy. Failing health late in life necessitated a move to Amherst, VA with her final earthly home at Gentle Care for the Elderly in Forest, VA.
She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 69 years, Noel K. Dawson who passed away in 2015. Also preceding her in death were a sister, Edith Cumberledge of Garrettesville, OH, another sister Frankie Fogg and two brothers Eugene Lewis and Johnny Lewis, all of Johnstown WV.
She is survived by a sister Irene Fogg of Bridgeport WV, a daughter Cindy Loving (Michael) of Amherst, VA, granddaughter Cristy Anderson (Wade) and children Aurora, Alex, Abraham, Sierra, Luke and Canyon of Scott Depot, WV, and grandson Scott Loving (Andrea) and daughter Lila of Lewisburg, WV. Numerous nieces and nephews round out her large and loving family.
Affectionately known as Mamaw to her grand and greatgrandchildren, she was known as Tippy to most others. An avid collector of sea shells she could wander the beaches of Sanibel Island, Florida for hours on end. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother who will be missed by all.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Friday evening from 5 – 8 p.m., where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2021, with Reverend Clifford Schell presiding. Interment will follow in Johnstown Cemetery.
