Obituary for Irene Fogg (Lewis)

Our beautiful, sweet, kind, stubborn, and amazing “Neno”, Irene Lewis Fogg, 93, of Bridgeport, passed away Monday, December 27, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Johnstown on December 1, 1928, one of six children born to the late Edgar W. and Erma (Deffibaugh) Lewis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence “Sleepy” Fogg, in 1985.
She is survived by her son, Tom Fogg and his wife Beverly of Bridgeport; three grandchildren, David Fogg and his wife Allison of Clarksburg, MD; Jenna Myers and her husband Chris of Morgantown; and Kelsey Fogg and her companion Clint Oldaker of Bridgeport; and two great-grandchildren, Braxton Fogg and Landon Myers. She was very close to and loved her many nieces and nephews. Family was the most important aspect of life to her.
You could often find Neno in the early morning hours being a one-woman audience to Braxy’s dance routines, concerts, and make-believe wedding ceremonies. Thankfully, Landon arrived two weeks early and was able to meet his Neno. Although Irene only had 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren she was “Neno” to many of their friends. And Kelsey’s Facebook posts made her a Facebook favorite.
Irene was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by her sisters, Edith Cumberledge, Frankie Fogg, and Christine Dawson; and her brothers, Johnny and Eugene Lewis.
Irene graduated from R-W High School in 1946, and her class met regularly for breakfast or lunch for many years, along with having a reunion every five years. She moved out on her own at age 17, and started working for C & P Telephone. She started as an operator, and rose through the ranks as a service representative, training supervisor, service supervisor, and engineering supervisor, retiring after 46 years of service. She was a Lifetime Member of the Telephone Pioneers.
She was a member of Vincent Memorial United Methodist Church, and was an active member of Harrison County Senior Citizens.
Her son Tom and Irene lived together all of his life, and sometimes their discussions were like 2 gators going after it, but it always came back around to love.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday and from 11 a.m. – 12 Noon on Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, with Reverend Steve Engle presiding. Interment will follow in Johnstown Cemetery.
