Obituary for Roger Mark Jones
Roger M. Jones, 57, of North View Community of Clarksburg, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at his residence. He was born in Philippi on May 22, 1964, a son of the late Morris R. Jones and Betty M. Marsh Jones.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 29 years, Sheryl Lynn Ashcraft Jones, on January 26, 2021.
He is survived by two special daughters, Brittney Layne Jones and her companion Jobie Cottrill of Clarksburg and Whittney Lynn Jones and fiancé Zach Harpold all of Clarksburg; two grandchildren, Jordan Wayne Cottrill and Brooke Lynn Cottrill; his sister, Karen Boni and her husband Jim of Philippi; his Aunt Louise Turner and her husband Richard of Belington; his mother-in-law, Helen Ashcraft of Clarksburg; and his brother-in-law, Jim Ashcraft and his wife Claudia of Walled Lake, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Crystal Jones.
After graduation from Philip-Barbour High School in 1982, he worked at the A & P Grocery Store in Philippi prior to entering the Navy. He served in the United States Navy from March 10, 1989 and retired after 20 years of service on April 30, 2009. His Naval career was served on aircraft carriers as an Aviation Boatswain Mate, and he served during the Gulf War.
After serving in the Navy, he worked at various local auto parts stores. He enjoyed go-cart racing, hunting, and especially spending time with his grandkids.

Roger’s request for cremation will be honored. A gathering of family and friends will be announced at a later date, and he and Sheryl will be laid to rest at West Virginia National Cemetery.
