Obituary for Lawrence "Ozzie" Douglas

Lawrence Darrell “Ozzie” Douglas, 69, of Clarksburg, passed away Friday afternoon, February 18, 2022, in the United Hospital Center. He was born in Baltimore, MD, on August 24, 1952, a son of the late Lawrence Paul Douglas and Geneva Ireta Simons Douglas.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann (Scott) Douglas of Shinnston.
He was preceded in death by his long-time companion of 22 years, Lilma Faye Cole.
He is survived by two daughters, Rachel Douglas Skidmore of Shinnston and Barbara Ann “Midget” Douglas Copen of Anmoore; eight grandchildren, Star Ann Copen Jones, Cheyenne Copen, Kimberly Copen, Howard Soward and Hunter Soward, Victoria Skidmore, Ashley Skidmore, and Robert Fluharty; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Stuller and her husband Greg of Hagerstown, MD and Zola Keller of Hagerstown, MD; three brothers, Ralph Douglas of Clarksburg; Paul Douglas and his wife Debbie of Stonewood; and Russell Lantz of Michigan. He is also survived by Lilma Faye’s daughters, Annette Shaw and her husband Owen Lynn of Nutter Fort; and Rachel Gallo and her husband Steve of Rosemont; and their families.
Ozzie was preceded in death by his daughter Rebecca Douglas and his brother Bob Douglas.
Ozzie was a graduate of R-W High School. He had previously worked many years for the City of Shinnston Sanitation Department, 20 years for the Clarksburg Exponent and also for United Hospital Center. He loved the WVU Mountaineers.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 10 a.m. – 12 Noon on Thursday, February 24, 2022, where services will be held at 12 Noon with Pastor Randy Smith presiding. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
