Sandra Kay Grimes, 73, of Bridgeport, passed away Tuesday morning, February 22, 2022, in the United Hospital Center. She was born in Harrison County on December 25, 1948, a daughter of the late Von Paul Elder and Leona V. Dilley Elder.

She is survived by her one and only true love, Uri H. Grimes, Jr., whom she married on June 14, 1968.

Also surviving are her son Michael Paul Grimes and his wife Misty Dawn, who was like a daughter to her and was always there for her; a granddaughter Savannah Grimes; and two nieces who were like daughters, Sharon Zinn and Shirley Ann Cougar.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Jeffrey Grimes and her brothers, Paul Allen Elder and Charles Elder

Sandra graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1968. She greatly enjoyed being around her family and reading, especially Amish books.

Friends and family will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from Noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, February 25, 2022, where services will be held at 1 p.m. with Reverend Thomas P. Horne presiding. Interment will follow at Bridgeport Cemetery.
