Obituary for Vaughn Ledrue Ritter

Vaughn Ledrue Ritter, 74 of Myrtle Beach, SC formerly of Bridgeport, WV passed away on June 9, 2022, at United Hospital Center following an extended illness. Vaughn was surrounded by his loving family singing “Take Me Home Country Roads” as he took his final breath. He was born January 9,1948 in Clarksburg, WV to the late Ledrue Ora Ritter and Elenore Louise Randolph Ritter.
Vaughn served in the United States Airforce during the Vietnam era on Moron Air Base, Spain where he met his wife, Ana. Vaughn founded Expert Service Company, a heating and cooling business in 1970. He was a member of Simpson Creek Baptist Church, Bridgeport, WV.
Vaughn served the community in many volunteer organizations such as Jay Cees, Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department and Kiwanis Club. Vaughn served as Scoutmaster of Bridgeport Boy Scout Troop 40. He enjoyed playing and listening to bluegrass music, fishing, camping, hunting and loved his pets. Attending deer camp in Hampshire county and the annual Trough trip on the South branch of the Potomac River with the guys was near and dear to his heart.
Vaughn is survived by his wife of 53 years Ana Ritter, children Maria Louisa (Troy)Householder of Bridgeport, WV; Antonio Vaughn Ritter(Misty Miller, companion) of Bridgeport, WV; Jose (Lori) Moreno of Lost Creek, WV who Vaughn considered as one of his own; grandchildren Corbin (Anna) Householder of Gerrardstown, WV; Jena Householder (Andres Jaime, fiancé) of Bridgeport, WV; Carter Householder of Bridgeport, WV; Alex Ritter of Fairmont, WV; Ross Ritter of Bridgeport, WV; great granddaughter Rhea Vaughn Householder of Gerrardstown. WV; Sara Moreno and Gavin Moreno; brothers Randolph (Beth) Ritter of Falls Church, VA, Doug (Karen) Ritter of Foxboro, MA and several nieces and nephews.
Vaughn was preceded in death by one brother the late Dave Ritter.
Vaughn was blessed to receive a heart, transplanted on Thanksgiving Day 2004. The family wishes to thank Andy and his family for their donation of life. Vaughn’s legacy will live on forever in the lives that he touched.

Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport, on Saturday, June 18 from 1 to 4 pm. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. with Rev. Dr. C. Michael Hopkins and Rev. Thomas P. Horne presiding.
