Obituary for John Charles Kissinger

John Charles Kissinger, 70, of Orange Park, Florida, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 23, 2022, while visiting family in West Virginia. He was born in Elkins on September 3, 1951, a son of Mary Nelle (Davisson) Kissinger, who survives in Charleston, and the late Boyd Neil Kissinger.

On March 16, 1970, he married his high school sweetheart, Jane Ellen Leuliette, who survives in Orange Park, Florida.

Also surviving are two children, John Joseph (Joe) Kissinger and his wife Susie of Bordentown, New Jersey; and Jennifer (Jenny) Wilkes and her husband Robert (Rob) of Orange Park, Florida; six grandchildren, Reilly Emma Kissinger; Noah John Wilkes; Joseph Karl (Joey) Kissinger; Hanna Lora Kissinger; Madeleine (Maddie) Kate Wilkes; and Ella Grace Wilkes.

His brothers, Stephen N. Kissinger and Tom Wilson of Roswell, Georgia; Richard L. Kissinger and Roger L. Kissinger of Charleston; his sister-in-law, Donna Leuliette (Jack) Marteney of Buckhannon; and brothers-in-law, James (Pete) Leuliette (Priscilla-deceased) of Bridgeport and Ronald (Joyce) Leuliette of Lumberport; and numerous nieces and nephews complete his family.

John was a graduate of Bridgeport High School, Class of 1969. He retired from CSX Transportation in 2011 after 41 ½ years of service. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling with Jane in their RV, spending time at their North Carolina mountain home, and loving his two doxies, Gunther and Cooper.

He was a member of the First Baptist Middleburg Church in Middleburg, Florida, where he served as a Deacon. He was the rock and pillar of his family. Family, Faith, and Church were most important to him.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m., where a celebration of John’s life will be held at 11 a.m. with Reverend Vernon Beachum presiding. Additional services will be held at First Baptist Middleburg Church in Middleburg, Florida.
