Obituary for Densel "Dan" Jewell

Densel (Dan) C. Jewell, 80, of Boothsville, WV, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at the United Hospital Center. He was born in Cumberland, MD to the late Walter and Violet Jewell on November 13, 1941.

He is survived by his wife, Zandera Jewell, three children Denise Myers of Harrisburg, PA, Jason and wife Tammy Courtney of Carpendale, WV, and Dennis Courtney of Morgantown, WV. Dan is survived by five grandchildren, Danielle Milesco and significant other Matthew Ferguson of Harrisburg, PA, Tyler Milesco of Harrisburg, PA, Kayla Milesco of Harrisburg, PA, Megan and husband Daniel Ganoe of Finzel, MD, and Emily and husband John Nolan of Cumberland, MD. Dan is survived by eight great- grandchildren, Makaila, Michael, Kehanni, Logan, Lukas, Amelia, Claire, and Hannah. Dan is survived by three sisters, Joyce, Janet, and Alma. He is also survived by special friends Leonard and Elaine Blank and Bill and Benj Seckman; and his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Lee and Elaine Finley of VA; Jeff and Debbie Finley of NJ; and Karen Finley of TX.

He attended Fort Hill High School. He was a veteran of the US Navy from 1965-1969, where he served on the USS Saratoga and USS Shangri-La. Dan was a skilled carpenter and enjoyed wood working projects with his wife creating knives, clocks, walking sticks and other various wood work.

In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his Aunt Cleo and Uncle Junior Llewellyn, and cousin Bobby Bohrer.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Friday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. A Graveside Service will be held immediately following the visitation at Sardis Cemetery, with Pastor Chad Weaver presiding, and Military Funeral Honors will be accorded by the US Navy.
