Obituary for Robert "Bob" J. Lefever

Another member of The Greatest Generation, Robert J. LeFever, completed his earthly journey on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, while a resident of the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg.
He was born in Salem, the son of immigrants, Robert and Delzina LeFever. Immediately after graduating from WI High School, he enlisted in the Army and was proud to serve his country during WWII.
Bob attended Potomac State where he played on the basketball team after which he began his career with the telephone company. He was the last surviving founder of the telephone credit union.
Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose Marian LeFever, with whom he had a daughter, Deb Britzki and husband Mike of Myrtle Beach, a granddaughter, Michille O’Brien and husband Dan, and great- grandchildren Delaney and Matt O’Brien, all of Queenstown, Maryland.
In earlier years, Bob was a great outdoorsman and hunted trophy animals from New Mexico to the Northwest territory. He also loved to fish, catching a gold fin tuna in Hawaii and steel- head salmon on the Rogue River in Oregon.
Bob retired from the telephone company at age 59 so he and Sandy could travel throughout the United States and winter in Florida.
He was a member of the Stealey United Methodist Church where he enjoyed the weekly Sunday School class.
Surviving is his loving, devoted wife of 42 years, soulmate, and best friend, Sandra (Sandy) LeFever of Shinnston, sisters-in-law Mary Jo Crites of Shinnston, Doris Greathouse of Washington, PA and Linda Fernandez of Toronto, Canada, several nieces and nephews, and a special friend and neighbor Bill Boyles, and brother-in-law Bob McGee of Bridgeport.
Also preceding him in death was his brother, Jack LeFever, brothers-in-law Fred Fernandez, Chuck Greathouse, and Jack Crites.
Bob enjoyed woodworking and repairing anything broken, and was blessed with a generous spirit. In declining health, he found joy in porch time with Sandy.
Bob was blessed to live a long, joy-filled, adventurous life and will be missed beyond words. He completed his “bucket-list” when he flew to Washington, DC on the Honor Flight with his fellow veterans.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lords Pantry in Shinnston would be appreciated, and can be sent to Lords Pantry, P.O. Box 64, Shinnston, WV 26431.
Private services will be held for the family and arrangements are under the care of Burnside Funeral Home, Bridgeport.
