Obituary for Vivian Alberta Ward Furner (Singleton)

Vivian Alberta (Singleton) Ward Furner, 98, originally of Clarksburg, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022, at her daughter’s home in Greensboro, NC. She was born in Gem, Braxton County, WV on October 27, 1923, and was the daughter of the late Oscar Lee and Delvia Jane (Hutchison) Singleton and stepmother Mabel (Harper) Singleton
She was preceded in death by her first husband Lamont (Monty) Ward of Tampa, FL; and her second husband Paul D. Furner, Sr. of Clarksburg.
She is survived by her daughter Barbara C. Anderson and husband John of Greensboro, NC and son Malcolm E. Ward and wife Athanasia of Carlisle, PA; three grandchildren, Robert S. Marsh of Greensboro, NC; Katherine Beam and her husband Randy; and Michael C. Ward and his wife Christina, of Carlisle, PA. She is also survived by sister Laverna Wilson of Winter Park, FL, a niece, Carolyn Lee Eneix of Myrtle Beach, SC; and several nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren, including Shayne Scout Jauz of Greensboro; Matthew C. Ward and Mikaela Ward of Carlisle, PA.
She was preceded in death by sisters Maxine Harbert of Clarksburg and Virginia Reichelderfer of Willoughby, OH; one sister-in-law, Norma Jean Kirk of Stonewood; and nieces Mary Elizabeth Nophsker of Myrtle Beach, SC; and Suellyn Harshbarger of TX. She was also preceded in death by her four step-children.
She retired from Eagle Convex Glass of Clarksburg after 35 years of service. She was a member of Bible Baptist Temple of Stonewood, WV since 1973.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Sunday from 2 – 6 p.m., where services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 31, 2022 with Pastor Charles Madaus presiding. Interment will follow in Coplin Cemetery on Jarvisville Road.
