Obituary for Kenneth Linger

Kenneth Linger, 88, of Bridgeport, passed away Saturday morning, December 10, 2022. He was born February 10, 1934, in Weston, a son of the late Dee and Ada Bonnett Linger.
Kenny was preceded in death by the love of his life, Barbara Utzman Linger, on March 12, 2007. The couple were married on August 21, 1955.

They were the proud parents of three daughters, who survive. Caryl Trippett and her husband, Mark of Bridgeport; Linda Linger and her companion, Bowie Fulton of Jacksonville, FL; and Alice Oldaker and her husband, Tom of Bridgeport. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Ashley Montgomery and her husband Chad and Justin Trippett and his wife Ashley, of Bridgeport. Kenny is also survived by three great grandchildren, Emma Montgomery, Will Trippett and Graham Trippett. Additionally, he is survived by one sister, Hazel Posey of Weston and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Butcher.

Retired from Rish Equipment Company after 42 years of service, he served in the US Army where he began his trade as a heavy equipment mechanic. A Presbyterian by faith, Kenny enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his yard and fishing at his cabin on the Buckhannon River.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Cathy Exline, Patty Hoskins and Connie Swiger for the amazing care they provided while he was still at home. Additionally, the family would like to express our gratitude to the staff of Stonerise - Nutter Fort and Bridgeport, especially Alicia Hanshaw.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, from 12 Noon – 2 p.m., where services will be held at 2 p.m. with Reverend Jim Lang presiding. Interment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery.
