Maurice Creak, 90, of Bridgeport, went to his Heavenly reward that he has lived his whole life for on Saturday, March 29, 2014. He was born in Glenn Falls on August 18, 1923, a son of the late William M. Creak and Thelma P. Bise Creak. .

He was preceded in death on May 31, 2010 by his loving wife of 57 years, Elenore, whom he married September 20, 1952.

Also surviving are 5 children, Pam Sigley and her husband Loyd, Bridgeport; Katrina Wilfong and her husband Gary, Bridgeport; Terry Creak and his wife Esperanza, Clarksburg; Scott Creak and his wife Glenna Clutter, Buckhannon; and Shawndell Johnson and her husband Rob, Bridgeport; 9 grandchildren, Reta Mays of Reynoldsville; Sgt. Luke Sigley and his wife Amy, Colorado Springs, CO; Sgt Gerald Wilfong and his wife Loreen, Fort Lee, VA; Christopher Wilfong, Bridgeport; Terra Creak, Clarksburg; Jerren Creak, FL; Nathanial Allen, Bridgeport; and Harley Johnson, Bridgeport, and Ellie Rose Johnson of Bridgeport; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Rosa Stutler, Mary Kallel and Viola Wilson; one brother, James Creak; one niece, Rosemary Osborn and two nephews, Bill Kallel and Joseph Creak. Mr. Creak was the last surviving member of his family.

Mr. Creak was a Veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army where he was awarded the Silver Star and also The Purple Heart, among other service medals. He worked for Alker Tire and Supply for 32 years until the time of his retirement. He was also a member of the Monroe Chapel United Methodist Church where he had many leadership roles. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Following his retirement, Maurice liked to garden and each year would share his produce with friends and neighbors.

At the request of Maurice, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Monroe Chapel United Methodist Church CGW Fund, 773 Bisetown Road, Lost Creek, WV 26385.

The family would also like to thank their many faithful caregivers, Georgia Hitt, Dee Dee White, Libby McDaniels, Linda Peggs, Bunny Waldren, Jennifer Spinks and Linda Evans. A special thank you also goes to Peoples Hospice.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Tuesday from 2 – 8 pm, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, with Reverend George Bramble and Reverend Bob King presiding. Interment will follow in WV National Cemetery.
