Obituary for Mary Ellen Colombo (Sevcik)

Mary Ellen Colombo, 78, of Bridgeport passed away on Monday, August 18, 2014, at her residence with her family by her side. She was born August 19, 1935 in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late John Steven Sevcik and Anna Petrigac Sevcik, and she grew up in Galloway, WV.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dr. Dino Colombo, whom she married on August 24, 1957.
She is also survived by her two sons, Dino S. Colombo and his wife Dawn of Morgantown; Steven J. Colombo and his wife Lynn of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Nathan E. Colombo and Caroline E. Colombo, both of Morgantown, Steven B. Colombo of Beckley, Christina A. Colombo of Charlotte and Shannon L. Lawson; great granddaughter Autumn Colombo.
Mary Ellen was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. She attended West Virginia University and Fairmont State graduating with a degree in education. She taught in the public school systems in PA and NJ from 1957-1962. She was also a member of Reach to Recovery, a cancer survivor support group, and loved to play golf with her dear friends. She was an entrepreneur starting a home based business with products which were eventually sold on QVC and in national catalogs. She will fondly be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and friend.

Family and friends will be received at All Saints Catholic Church, 317 East Main Street Bridgeport on Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 12:00-8:00 pm with a prayer service being held at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014 at 10:00 am with Father Benedict Kapa as Celebrant. Entombment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Clarksburg.
