Obituary for Virginia "Ginny" Winans (Utter)

Virginia “Ginny” Winans, 84, of Nutter Fort, was called home by the Lord and became an angel on Monday evening, September 22, 2014, at her residence with her family by her side. She was born in Bristol on June 13, 1930, a daughter of the late Edith Nicholas Utter Mitchell and her stepfather John Mitchell.
She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Winans, who was the love of her life and they had been married 64 years on August 3, 1950.
Also surviving are her daughter Linda Malcomb, Nutter Fort; and two sisters, Glenda Gaines and her husband Don, Sardis; and Patricia Cheuvront, Clarksburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Claude Utter, Jr.
Ginny had attended Bristol High School. She had previously worked at JC Penney’s in the Sales Audit Department and later at BankOne in Clarksburg where she retired. She fought a long hard battle and she was a wonderful wife and mother. She loved to watch and listen to Daniel O’Donnell sing and that was her greatest comfort while she was sick.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation in her honor to the wonderful and caring People’s Hospice at 327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport WV 26330.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Thursday, September 25, 2014 from 2-8 pm, where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday September 26, 2014, with Pastor Sherman Goodwin presiding. Interment will follow in Mt. Olive Baptist Cemetery, Salem.
