Obituary for George Denver Ashcraft

George Denver Ashcraft, age 81, of Quiet Dell, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at his residence. He was born February 2, 1933 in Wallace, the son of the late Everett Ashcraft and Beatrice Wilmoth Ashcraft.
He is survived by his wife Evelina Bennett Ashcraft whom he married on December 31, 1957.
He is also survived by two sons, Roy Ashcraft and his wife Lisa of Bridgeport, and Timothy Ashcraft and his wife Dawn of Granville, OH; 5 grandchildren, Kara Kent and her husband Paul of Columbus, OH; Erin Cunningham and her husband Bobby of Marysville, OH; T. Devin Ashcraft of Columbus, OH; Jennifer Fox and her husband Jon of Bridgeport; Deanna Hinkle and her husband Brandon of Bridgeport; 7 great-grandchildren, Justin Slaughter, Teigan and Liam Kent all of Columbus, OH and Joseph, Tyler, Charlie and Sunny Cunningham all of Marysville, OH.
George is also survived by two sisters, Mary Ashcraft of Nutter Fort and Carol Ashcraft of Delaware and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters-in-law; Everett Ashcraft and his wife Jean, Hubert Ashcraft and his wife Grace and James Ashcraft
George was a veteran of the United States Army. He was formerly employed by Frank Costello at his show horse farm. He retired from the Harrison County Board of Education as a school bus operator after 24 years of service. After retirement he worked at the Mountain State Auto Auction.
George was a member of the Quiet Dell United Methodist Church. He enjoyed farming, spending time with his family and listening to country music.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 2:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 11:00 am with Reverend Brian Boley presiding. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Quiet Dell.
