Obituary for Doris Jean West

Doris Jean West, longtime resident of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully, Monday, December 8, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born in Walton, WV, on May 14, 1932, a daughter of the late James Stanford and Alpha Myers Jones.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Lloyd, whom she married June 30, 1956.
She leaves her four daughters and their spouses, Linda Floyd and her husband Gene, Worthington; Sharon Slaughenhoupt and her husband Mark, Carson City, Nevada; Lisa Cook and her husband Mike, Bridgeport; and Cindi Bruner and her husband Brian, Morgantown.
She was a devoted grandma to Amy Floyd Keener; Sondra Arbogast and her husband Jody; Brian Floyd and his partner Jessica; Benjamin Floyd and his wife Stephanie; Alan Slaughenhoupt; Josh Cook; Kurt Slaughenhoupt; and Molly Stoneking and her husband Chaz.
Doris and Lloyd were great-grandparents to Seneca, Kaleb, Gavin, Kolben, Gia, Ryker, and Kruz.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William “Bill”, John, and Doyle.
Mrs. West graduated from Spencer High School and comptometers school in Charleston. She was a past member of Bridgeport Homemakers Club. She was Methodist.

The family has entrusted Burnside Funeral Home with the arrangements, and Mrs. West was honored with a private family service and she was laid to rest with Lloyd at WV National Cemetery.
