The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of James Atkinson can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

My Dad

I normally don't put anything this personal on here but am making an exception since a lot of people reading this knew my dad. My dad passed away yesterday. It's a day that I thought or hoped would never come. He was the bedrock of my family and did so much for me, my five siblings, and my mom. He saw me through two bouts of leukemia which is two more than any parent should have to experience. He was the greatest man I ever knew. There are a million good things I could say about him so I'll pick the most important one. He and my mom were married for 45 years. During my life, I saw the love and respect he showed her and the example it set for how a man should treat his wife. It's an example I try to live up to in my own marriage. I'll miss him every day for the rest of my life. One thing that comforts me is that he is out of pain and in a better place. I hope he is enjoying seeing all his friends and family that are already in Heaven.
