Obituary for Marilyn Cox (Burgoyne)

Marilyn Burgoyne Cox, 78, of Clarksburg, passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon, February 16, 2015, in the United Hospital Center. She was born in Monongahela, PA, on November 26, 1936, a daughter of the late Aelred “Al” Paul and Elizabeth “Betty” (Wilkinson) Burgoyne.
She is survived by her daughter, Sondra Smith, Clarksburg; a granddaughter, Jessica Caloccia, Bridgeport; a grandson, Richard Lee Cox, III, and his wife Carleeta, Stonewood; two great-granddaughters, Rhiannon Caloccia and Giana Cox; two great-grandsons, Anthony Whyte and Jackson Cox; three sisters, Carole Gilmer, Monongahela, PA; Ina Prystash and her husband Ralph, Donora, PA; and Sara Jo Burgoyne, Donora, PA; and a brother, Gary Burgoyne and his wife Peggy, Monongahela, PA; and several nieces and nephews. Three step-children, Gloria Neely and her husband Mike; Edna Boggs and her husband Chauncey; and William Corley and Kathy; several step-grandchildren; her long-time friend and companion, Jack Davis; and her special friend Mary Wilson complete her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Richard Lee Cox, Jr.; a sister, Martha Gallagher; and two brothers, Aelred “Sonny” Burgoyne and William C. Burgoyne.
Marilyn graduated from Charleroi High School in 1959. She worked at Bank One in Clarksburg as a customer service bookkeeper, retiring on September 8, 2000, after 30 years of service. She had previously attended Jewel City Church, and was a member of Helping Hands Homemakers Club. She was a TOPS member for several years where she had several good friends.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Thursday from 2 – 8 p.m., where services will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, February 20, 2015. Interment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery.
