Obituary for Carlton Kay Hoskinson Sr.

Carlton K. Hoskinson, Sr., 74, of Bridgeport, passed away unexpectedly Monday morning, June 15, 2015, in the United Hospital Center. He was born in Anmoore on March 12, 1941 a son of the late Lillian Virginia (Hathaway) and Guyle Salathiel Hoskinson.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Cable (Hamrick) Hoskinson, whom he married on August 4, 2013.

Also surviving are his sons, Carlton “Sonny” Hoskinson, Jr. and his wife Diana of Bridgeport; Carl David Hoskinson and his wife Missy, of Haywood, Sean Hoskinson and his wife Melissa of Fairmont and Tammy Wickline of OH; his grandchildren, Kelsey and Logan Hoskinson, Noah and Zach Hoskinson, Sam Fisher and Amanda Southern and Tanner and Hayley Hoskinson; his great grandchildren, Aela Eve Ryan, Briley and Rylan Hoskinson; his stepdaughter, Lisa Wittstruck and her husband Travis of Sorrento, FL and three step grandchildren, Jessica West, John West, II and his wife Samantha, and Austin Cable; one brother, Floyd Hoskinson and his wife Willa of Kinston, NC; two sisters, Carolyn Fittro and her husband Jim of Mount Clare, and Judy Lawson of Bridgeport

Mr. Hoskinson was a graduate of Bridgeport High School and was employed as an elevator Repairman for 35 years, retiring in 1999. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid West Virginia University and Bridgeport High School sports fan. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and recitals. He also loved hunting and fishing with his boys.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport, from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015, with Reverend Del Parris presiding. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Quiet Dell.
