Lucinda Rose Swiger Skinner, 73, of Clarksburg, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 in Morgantown. She was born June 23, 1942 in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late Aubrey Levi Swiger and Helen Marie Goodwin Swiger.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Edward Skinner who passed away on March 4, 1980.
She is survived by six children, Gary Lee Skinner of Clarksburg, Charlotte M. Eakle of Bridgeport, Bonnie Buffey of Clarksburg, Shirley Johnson and her husband Mark of West Milford, Melissa Skinner of Salem, and Eddie Skinner of Clarksburg; seventeen grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Dick Swiger and his wife Betty, Mike Swiger and Sandra, Fay Swiger and Nancy, Danny Swiger and Sue Ann, Frenchie Swiger and his wife Marlene, Rex Swiger and his wife Gina, all of Clarksburg, Anna Hickman and her husband Chuck of Reynoldsville, Connie Swiger, Kathy Richison and her husband Fred, Minnie Costello and her husband Guy and Robin Gonzalez and her husband Rick all of Clarksburg; a family friend, Johnnie Harris.
In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Victoria Dawn “Tori” Clevenger; her brothers and sisters, Gail, Gary “Gubby”, Gene, and Lowelle and Joanne who died in infancy; and her daughter-in-law, Becky Skinner.
Mrs. Skinner worked as a waitress for McCroy’s Restaurant until July of 1989. She loved to watch birds and old westerns. She loved country music as well, but her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Dana Bragg who took excellent care of her for many years.
Family and friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Sunday from 5 - 8 p.m., where services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2015, with Pastor Bobby Bright presiding. Interment will follow in Elkview Masonic Cemetery.
