Obituary for Geraldine Mary Cochran

Mary Geraldine “Gerry” Cochran, 89, of Bridgeport, passed away suddenly at her residence Tuesday morning, May 10, 2016. She was born in Copley, Lewis County on July 15, 1926, a daughter of the late Gerald Bailey and Raytee Heater Bailey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude M. Cochran, 15 years ago to the day, on May 10, 2001.
She is survived by her son, C. Michael “Mickey” Cochran and his wife Yvonne, Lost Creek; and her daughter, Chris “Chrissy” Signorelli and her husband Chris, Bridgeport; two granddaughters, Geri Michelle Signorelli and Cheri Rose Signorelli, both of Bridgeport.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harold, and a sister, Virginia. She was also preceded in death by her beloved Sheltie, Cody.
Gerry worked with her husband helping with his business as a building contractor as well as being a homemaker. After Claude’s retirement, she traveled the state selling advertising promotional items. She was a long-time member of Bridgeport United Methodist Church since she and Claude moved to Bridgeport in 1954. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, doing crossword puzzles, and fishing, and was an avid WVU Mountaineer fan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bridgeport United Methodist Church Permanent Fund, 251 Worthington Drive, Bridgeport WV 26330
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, from 4 – 8 p.m. on Friday, where services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016, with Reverend Dr. Ken Ramsey presiding. Interment will follow in Seventh Day Baptist Church, Lost Creek.
