Obituary for Donald Lee Jones
Donald Lee Jones, 80, of Clarksburg, passed away Friday evening, November 24, 2017, in the United Hospital Center under the care of People’s Hospice. He was born in Clarksburg on April 12, 1937, a son of the late Addison A. Jones and Lula Plyman Jones Bell.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Shirley (Woofter) Jones, on February 18, 2010.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by his sister, Helen Mauller, and two brothers, Addison A. “Jim” Jones, Jr., and Robert Keith Jones.
Don had worked at Southern Pine Lumber Company and retired from Union Carbide after 30 years of service. He enjoyed NASCAR and dirt track racing and at one time co-owned a dirt track racing car. He loved to camp and taking car rides with his wife Shirley.
Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home, 607 S. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport, on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, from 1 – 5 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
